A simulation

Consider, for a moment, the life that we lead. The limited expanse of the window accorded to us provides us with a view of the world that’s as much our perspective as it is the world itself. Plato’s cave dwellers we still very much are. What then, do we consider as the reality? If Elon has his way, reality is simulation, but that may not bar itself from being reality in and of itself. Who says simulation cannot be a reality? It may not be for those simulating us. But for us, as for the Westworld dwellers, their reality is their reality. If you happen to dwell deep into these worlds, it would be natural to consider what you have around you as the flesh and blood reality itself. But what happens when you take an extra step forward and skirt around the boundaries of these worlds? They say the maximum churn or volatility is at the intersection of technologies, at the inflection points of economic cycles, at the confluence of two seemingly disparate trends in the world. It’s natural to assume then, that when you try to transcend, when you become obsessed with bringing yourself outside the metaphor of a box, you begin experiencing doubt and confusion regarding the validity of human experiences. When you start doubting the very fundamentals of the human experience, you start to unpack the logical inconsistencies inherent in them. Under influence of a substance or of an idea, it would be easy to migrate out of the normal confines of our existence and shock ourselves of the insignificance we manifest each day, without, fortunately and sadly, being aware of it.

Those that perennially inhabit these no man lands, we call them artists, visionaries, or futurists. Many, as they are want to do, become obsessed with their appendages more than their suggested defining traits. Others though, seem to relinquish the chimera of conformity altogether and embark on a treacherous path towards complete self-annihilation in the philosophical sense. All power to them.

A frog in a well. A prospect that age and situations impose upon the average joe anyways. The science of philosophy is no different. Being a frog in the well of this world implies we immerse ourselves in the senses this geography has to offer. Not so bad a prospect I feel given the alternative.
